Hexer

A Hexer in public-domain ragnarok online terminology is a person who used a variety of techniques, using decompilers and hexadecimal editors to modify Ragnarok Online executables so that they would change the behaviour of the Ragnarok Client. This method was the preferred method used by the public server (private server) community in the Western Hemisphere as it was a more permanent method of ensuring that a client would connect to another third-party location, but also in ensuring that various security features provided by Gravity would be patched out, such as NProtect GameGuard among others, which would often be replaced by solutions such as Gepard Shield.

In the Eastern Hemisphere, many public server (private server) operators used HookConnect, which did not modify the binary and instead routed traffic to another IP address using Windows host routing.

The most well-known hexer in the Ragnarok Online community was a person with the alias (?) Rodney Jason.
